Long time, No post!

Hi all!! Its been a while! Life got busy and I never took the time to update you on what we were doing, so Ill try to recap what we have been up to over the last 2+ months; lots has been going on...

Reilly was laid off in the middle of May, the company laid off a large group of people and he was one of them. It was a shock at first and a little concern once reality set in. We both have been so lucky to have had good steady jobs through these times and all the sudden wham, one of us looses our jobs, just like so many other people. I guess we are human too! I do have to say after being concerned and shocked at the fact that we have one income for some time, I really had no concern. Reilly is maybe the most well networked hard working person I know. As soon as he was laid off he was setting up meetings and getting phone calls from people who wanted him to come work for them!! This was all great news and relieving to know he wont be with out a job for long.

Reilly had a trip to the Bahama's planned with his dad and uncle and a few more guys. He was scheduled to leave the friday of the week he was laid off, so we agreed he might as well, enjoy a couple days off and go and enjoy the amazing vacation he planned in the Bahama's. It was a big fishing trip for him and the boys! (which is why I didn't go). They had an amazing time - I will post some picks soon.

Once Reilly got back from the Bahamas it was back to finding a job. He took his time to assure he found the right job and company for him. Well he found it, the company is located in Palo Alto, CA. (outside of San Francisco) The company is called EchoSign. He had actually talked to them a about a year or so ago when he was looking at other opportunities. At that time they wanted him to move down there and the timing just wasn't right for us. Well this time, he is able to work from Seattle! So after thinking it through he took the job with EchoSign!!
We spent 4th of July weekend converting one of our extra bedrooms into an office, so he would have a dedicated space for him to focus and work all day! He is doing great and is loving it!!!

Updates

Been a while now since I have updated the blog. The plan was to update every week; well things have been very busy!! So Ill start from a couple weeks back and update from there to catch you all up!

Weekend of May 1st - May 1st was my birthday; 28 year young! We left the night before to head to Montana for the weekend. We had met Reilly's sister and parents there - Reilly's Grandpa, Papa, had been really sick and in the hospital and hadn't been turning for the better. We wanted to make a trip up to MT to see him. Its hard because you always hate thinking it may be the last time you see him, it just seems so final and going out there and seeing him, you just so badly want to think, oh this is so great I get to see you and cant wait for the next time! Well, I can update now that I am so glad we did go out to see him when we did. Papa, Marvin Smith, passed away yesterday May 9th. He had just turned 88 years old on Friday, May 7th. I didn't get to know Papa very well, but I did know he was a very strong, smart, selfless, caring man. Marvin and his wife, Elaine, aka "Bunnie", has raised a wonderful family! One that I am blessed to be a part of. His life and memories will forever live on. Papa was an Attorney in Great Falls Montana. He went to University of Washington and played football with them and played in a Rose Bowl! He will be missed and forever loved! (I will add a pic once I get my hands on one)

Not expecting anything on my birthday at all, as we were in Montana and there for other reasons, I had a very pleasant surprise when we met up at Grandmas house that morning. They had a beautiful champagne cake and cards and presents from everyone :) I am so lucky! One of the biggest surprises of all was a gift waiting for me from Ashley and Lindsay!!! So thoughtful and sweet of them to send me a gift at all, let alone have it sent to Grandma's house! Love you girls!! I was spoiled for my b.day and am so thankful!! We went and saw Papa that day - he was having a good day, and it was so great to see him.

That evening we went to a Gary Allen concert with Reilly's sister, Quinn and a couple of her friends. I had no idea who he was, I am not a country music fan. But he was actually really good! We very much enjoyed ourselves.

We came home Monday, it was a quick week, I had to leave Tuesday for Las Vegas for work. I was there for less than 24 hours. Came home late Wednesday and worked from home Thursday - was exhausted!! Had been working with our legal team on a case and had been staying up until 2 am working on getting him information... blah blah.
Needless to say was very much looking forward to the weekend!

Weekend of May 8th (Reilly's Birthday; 31 years young!) - we had a couple friends in town for everyone's Birthday, we have a lot of May birthdays amongst us friends, (Reilly, Anthony, Bridget, Lisa, Brenda and myself) so we decided to all celebrate on Saturday, also Reilly's actual birthday!! We started the day Saturday, at Pesos for breakfast, then from there we went to the Sounders Soccer game. There were 6 of us that had seats together - it was fun! Then from there we went to our friends and had a BBQ. Reilly and I decided to get a hotel downtown that evening - so we just cabbed it back to the hotel after the BBQ and again sunday we had beautiful weather! We got up and walked to Pikes Market and just, people watched, got some food and walked around for a couple hours!
I'm glad we did it, we live in such a great city with some great stuff to do and just take it for granted sometimes.
Then we came home and drove north to find a beach with the hound. We drove to the Whidbey Island Ferry take off point - they have a huge beach/park there. We took Madison down by the water, she wanted to go swimming so bad but there were too many people to let her off her leash. We were sitting by this family that was fishing and one of the little buys, probably 5 was fishing and his fishing line/hook got caught on Madison's foot, I took it out and the little boy kept saying to his dad... "Guess what I caught"?! Guess what I caught?!!... A DOG!!!! :)
It was so cute!!!

Then we went home laid on the couch for a bit and went to dinner. After dinner, our busy weekend had caught up to us and by 8:00 we were in bed, exhausted, watching our new favorite series. Friday Night Lights! We are only on the first season, episode 7 or 8. Trying to catch up quick! I think there are like 5 series!

Well, now you are all caught up :) I will update you again on this week, early next week!

Our week & yard work

Good week. Work & more work... Wednesday after work I had dinner club with the ladies, we went to Madam K in Ballard, it is a pizza place, delicious! Then for dessert they have one option it is called, the Orgasm. It was soo good! Soo bad for you, but so good. It was a half baked cookie, chocolate chips melting, served right out of the oven in a hot baking dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!! Delicious!
Thursday I had a meeting with the Tom Douglas team (Tom is a local Seattle chef) we are doing a kitchen line with him at work. Afterwards we were invited to a wine tasting they were hosting, so Reilly met up with me and we enjoyed some great wines, all from France.
I had the cleaning lady come on saturday. The house is cleaner than it has ever been before! I love it!! She did such a nice job and I will definitely have her back!

We have been working on the yard again, we decided to re-do the path a bit; we are still working on it.. but here are some pics of where we are at today. I will update more depending on how much we get done .

Yard Work

Well we got a lot of work done in the front yard, we built a whole new path/walk way. This is something we talked about doing for a long time and could never figure out what we wanted to do. So finally today we just went for it - not a real plan, just went to Home Depot, found some shrubs we liked and a few stepping stones, and voila! I am very proud of it, it took us all day but it was well worth it! Here are some before and after pics.

Our Week

Good week, went by fast. Thursday we went to our friends, Brenda & Tylers for dinner. Tyler is a commercial fisherman and just got home Monday from his last trip. Brenda is 8 months pregers! So it was good to have him home and always good to catch up with them!

Friday after work we did happy hour, sat outside the weather was great! Then Reilly tried to get into the "secret" Soundgarden concert and was successful!! He said it was amazing and well worth all efforts!

Saturday morning I had a referred cleaning lady come out to give a quote to potentially become our cleaning gal going forward! I am soooo excited for this! So she is coming next saturday to do a deep clean and assuming we are happy with her we will then have her come every 3 weeks.

Saturday was Brens baby shower! It was a beautiful shower, so many friends and family. LOTS of presents, Baby K was spoiled!! So happy for them, and so excited for baby K to arrive!
Then that night we had date night :) We tried a new place in Issaquah, Tutta Belle, its a pizza place. We are always in searched of thin crispy, real Italian style pizza! So we heard about this place and gave it a try, it was dang good!

Today the weather is beautiful, so our plan is to go to the dog park & then get some work done on the yard. Ill keep you updated!
